As I understand, in 1887, Aquilla Pickering and other prominent Quakers wished to form a new town. After considerable searching, the group formed the Pickering Land and Water Co, and on April 25, 1887, purchased the John M Thomas Ranch for $69,850. The 500 acre ranch was quickly subdivided into house size lots, which lots formed the core of what we now know as uptown Whittier.

This is our home church. Although it has a larger membership (2,000+, I think) than most others in the area, the vast selection of warm, small groups enables authentic connections with other believers.
Worship services are on Saturday evening at 5 PM, and Sunday morning at 8, 9:30, and 11 AM.
