Anne & Mike were great people willing to help out anyone in need, so many great stories from the past in the automobile world, i got to know them in the early 90's when they were retired from the multiple dealerships and concentrated on older classic cars visiting their place was like a trip back in time just great it was if you were into vintage iron & history of cars. I will miss them but will always have the found memories of our visits. nephew Doug Kielian

Yes, my dad bought a new 1967 Rambler Rebel 550 from Ricker. It was a fabulous car and went to 150k before he sold it.

You state in the article that Ricker Motors became an American Motors dealership in 1969. My father purchased a new 1962 Rambler Classic Station Wagon in 1962 from Ricker. I still have the paperwork. BTW it was the worst car my father purchased, ever. In fact he and Mike Ricker got into it on the dealership floor when Mr Ricker suggested that dad buy a new 63 if the 62 was so much trouble. Dad told him what he could do with the car. That same weekend dad bought a new 63 Ford. Anyway looks like they where selling American Motor before 69.

I remember, as a kid in the 1960s, sneaking into this cemetery. It was one of those stereotypical spooky "Halloween" cemeteries with a big iron bar fence around it, and a padlock on the gate. Old headstones tipped over, bats flying around, funny noises. It was a great place to take a girl.

Hmmm . . . House was built around 1868-69, and the first residents (the Baileys) moved in in 1887. Was the house just vacant for the first 18-19 yrs after it was built?

Sanford Wesley Clark, nephew and victim of Gordon Stewart Northcott (infamous Wineville Chicken Coop Murderer), was sent here at the behest of then-Assistant District Attorney, Loyal C. Kelley. Although Clark was a participant in the murders, Kelley felt it was due to duress and that Clark was innocent. As a solution to Clark's unique legal situation, he was sentenced to Whitter State School for five years. The sentence was later commuted to 23 months. As Sanford boarded a ship to be deported back to his native Canada (by American Authorities) he was requested by Mr. Kelley to: "Use your life to prove that Rehabilitation works ... go prove that I am right about you Sanford." Upon Sanford's arrival in Canada, and for the remainder of his life, Sanford kept to his heart Mr. Kelley's request. "He threw his body and soul into fulfilling Mr. Kelley's request, the only thing that he had been asked to do for the best man he had ever met, a man who believed in him. The thought of failing Mr. Kelley was intolerable. Sanford left the Whittier Boys School resolved to go after a normal life the way that a passenger who falls off a ship will swim to land." Clark's son, Jerry Clark, credits Clark's wife June, his sister Jessie, associate prosecution counsel Loyal C. Kelley, and the Whittier State School for helping save Sanford from the emotional and physical horrors of Gordon Northcott. Clark served in World War II, and then worked for 28 years for the Canadian postal service. He married, and he and his wife, June, adopted and raised two sons. They were married for 55 years and were involved in many different organizations. Sanford Clark died in 1991 at age 78. Sanford Wesley Clark was buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1993. Sanford's mission to honor Mr. Kelley's request had been fulfilled, with a lifetime of good deeds and acts with his fellow citizens. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wineville_Chicken_Coop_Murders

No games, just a talented and professional hairdresser. I've been going to Ronnie for nearly two decades. His salon is beautiful, clean, and relaxed. No loud music, no annoying people trying to sell you products you don't need. Just good, honest work.
